March 18 - "How To" Rev. Adam Murrell/Trinity Christian Fellowship

"How To"

I.   Recap the last few weeks

  • God is a Covenant God

Psalm 89:34

21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

34: My covenant will I not break, nor alter the things which have gone out of My lips.

  • We have all spiritual Blessings already

Ephesians 1:3

21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

3: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ, even as
  • We access all grace for us BY Faith

Romans 5:2

21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

2: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
  • Believe, say (not just confess but possess), corresponding actions (do it)
  • Give God glory, praise Him before the manifestation

Abraham’s example:

Romans 4:20-24

New King James Version (NKJV)

20: He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God21: and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22: And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.” 23: Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, 24: but also for us.

II.  The parable of the Sower

  • Purpose of parables:

Mark 4:11

New King James Version (NKJV)

11: And He said to them,  “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables,
  • If you are in Christ (believer) God doesn’t keep secrets from you
  • This is the most important parable you will ever hear, Jesus said so

Mark 4:13

New King James Version (NKJV)

13: And He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?
  • Not because, its exciting or fun, but because if you don’t understand this one you won’t understand any other parables
  • Let’s Focus, and get this one like your life depends on it, because it does!
  • This is the most important church service you ever attended

Mark 4:3-8

New King James Version (NKJV)

3: “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow.  4: And it happened, as he sowed,  that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds of the air[ a]came and devoured it.  5: Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth.  6: But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away.  7: And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop.  8: But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

III.    The parable of the Sower is Explained

Mark 4:14

New King James Version (NKJV)

14: The sower sows the word.
  • The sower is the preacher, the seed is the word, the soil is your heart

Proverbs 4:23

American Standard Version (ASV)

23 Keep thy heart [ a]with all diligence;
For out of it are the issues of life

A. Seed sown by the wayside

Mark 4:15

15: And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.
  • These are the people who come to church hear the word, but don’t understand it.
  • They are in church, but their mind is somewhere else
  • They are sleeping

Proverbs 4:7

New King James Version (NKJV)

7 Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom.
And in all your getting, get understanding.

B. Seed sown on Stony Ground

Mark 4:16-17

New King James Version (NKJV)

16: These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble.
  • They hear the word, receive it with gladness, but they don’t spend time with the word afterwards.  The word has no time to take root in their lives.
  • They come to church on Sunday get some word in them, they are excited & Happy, but they don’t open their bible until next Sunday
  • I could preach an hour message on Healing; give you 20 healing scriptures. Then as soon as you walk out the door you feel a little pain in your pinky toe, and you start complaining about the pain, instead of confessing what the Word says.  “you are already healed by Jesus stripes”
  • They don’t rehearse or meditate the Word

Joshua 1:8

New King James Version (NKJV)

8: This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
  • How long do I meditate on the Word? Until you believe God’s Word more than circumstances, what you see, what you hear, what you feel, and your feelings are telling you!

C.  Seed sown on Thorny ground

Mark 4:18-19

New King James Version (NKJV)

18: Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, 19 and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
  • People that are too busy to spend time with God or in their Bible
  • They have other things in their lives that are distractions (weeds).  God is talking to them every day, screaming to get their attention, but they are too distracted to hear Him.
  • Everybody has the same 24 hours in a day, but how you spend it is different on how I spend it
  • We need to take some inventory of our lives, and remove the clutter of our minds and lives.  (what is taking your time with God)

D. Seed sown in Good Ground

Mark 4:20

New King James Version (NKJV)

20: But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”
  • How come some good ground yielded 30,60, and some 100 fold?
  • Bible says that God’s Word is incorruptible seed (God’s Word works)
  • So the problem is not with God
  • It’s us!  How good is our soil of our Heart
  • Will we take what we hear, accept it, believe it, spend time make the changes in our day to day living?
  • This is how we possess the promises of God, bear fruit
  • So others will see that God is real in & through our lives
