VIRTUAL SERMON:
SERMON NOTES
Road to Wealth Part 2
Luke 5:1-11 The Message
5 1-3 Once when he was standing on the shore of Lake Gennesaret, the crowd was pushing in on him to better hear the Word of God. He noticed two boats tied up. The fishermen had just left them and were out scrubbing their nets. He climbed into the boat that was Simon’s and asked him to put out a little from the shore. Sitting there, using the boat for a pulpit, he taught the crowd.
4 When he finished teaching, he said to Simon, “Push out into deep water and let your nets out for a catch.”
5-7 Simon said, “Master, we’ve been fishing hard all night and haven’t caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I’ll let out the nets.” It was no sooner said than done—a huge haul of fish, straining the nets past capacity. They waved to their partners in the other boat to come help them. They filled both boats, nearly swamping them with the catch.
8-10 Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell to his knees before Jesus. “Master, leave. I’m a sinner and can’t handle this holiness. Leave me to myself.” When they pulled in that catch of fish, awe overwhelmed Simon and everyone with him. It was the same with James and John, Zebedee’s sons, coworkers with Simon.
10-11 Jesus said to Simon, “There is nothing to fear. From now on you’ll be fishing for men and women.” They pulled their boats up on the beach, left them, nets and all, and followed him.
Summary Part 1:
Be willing and Obedient to let the Lord use what you have
Listen for your moment of instruction (john 16:13) (Opportunity)
Let Go of your Old Thinking and believe God
ACT on your moment of instruction (might go against the grain of your old ways of thinking or doing things)
4) Obey God with High Expectations & Prepare for your day of Overflow
- if you have had no progress the last few years you need to change
- look unto Jesus with high expectation on Him and not man (your job, boss, economy, government, family)
Hebrews 12:2 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
2 Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Expectations on Jesus so when He prompts you to sow a seed, you do it!
Expect Big & Prepare for Overflow
Once you have obeyed God in your sowing, you must see yourself (imagine) with the answer
Continually imagine yourself experiencing breakthrough
Get excited and stay excited (stir yourself up, encourage yourself in the Lord)
Hebrews 10:23 New King James Version
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Maintain a continual attitude of thankfulness for the Lord has already given us the victory
If you hear a Word from God (heard from heaven) concerning your situation, obey and expect a harvest of overflow to come into your life
5) Share what you learned/ bring others up with you
- Get others in on receiving overflow themselves
Luke 5:5-7 5-7 Simon said, “Master, we’ve been fishing hard all night and haven’t caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I’ll let out the nets.” It was no sooner said than done—a huge haul of fish, straining the nets past capacity. They waved to their partners in the other boat to come help them. They filled both boats, nearly swamping them with the catch.
- Peter got others involved in what God was doing in his life (James & John)
- Don’t keep your blessing a secret, share revelations and testimonies with others (web page for testimonials)
- Keep the spotlight/ glory on God not yourself (God is no respecter of persons)
- you must share what God has done and show them He has no favorites
- what he has done for one he will do for others
- But they must get involved with God’s process (cooperate)
- your job as a recipient of the overflow/covenant blessings of God is to show them how to prosper God’s way (spiritual principles in the Word)
- no one prospers God’s way gets to skip the process
- faith, obedience, and receive the blessings of God (faith in action)
- when you have a revelation from God, and you work that revelation until it becomes a reality (don’t give up on your seed)
-you have a duty to share your testimony and what you learned with others
-God has enough prosperity for all His children, a lack of money isn’t the problem; lack of understanding and cooperation has been the problem and hinderance
6) Maintain an attitude of deep reverence before God
Luke 5:8-11 8-10 Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell to his knees before Jesus.
- Peter fell at Jesus feet, he witnessed out of the ordinary overflow (complete awe)
- Peter’s reaction wasn’t one of jumping for joy, but respect, yielding, and surrender (reverential fear)
- the miracle altered the course of his life, James , and John; they forsook all and followed Jesus to the point eventually they all would die for Jesus
- this reverence for God’s way of prosperity keeps us in the constant flow of His blessings.
Conclusion:
God will meet you at the point of your faith
How far are you willing to go with God? Everyone must answer for their own life
We must respond willingly and obedient to God’s call to come up higher in the realm of finances
Being prosperous God’s way according to His word enables us to teach others to come up higher by cooperating with His Word
