Control Your Self

Intro: Many Christians are too emotional

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (TPT) - Passion Translation

Now, may the God of peace and harmony set you apart, making you completely holy. And may your entire being—spirit, soul, and body—be kept completely flawless in the appearing of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One.

• You are not your body (vehicle on the earth (earth suit)

• You are not your thoughts, emotions, memories, or imaginations

• The real you is your spirit

• Your spirit receives communication from the Holy Spirit

Proverbs 23:7  (TPT) - Passion Translation

For as he thinks within himself, so is he.

• Think before you talk, think before you act

• If your thoughts don’t line up with the Love of Christ abort them (thought abortion)

• Aborting those kind of thoughts will stop those actions that go against God & His Word

• If the thought or action doesn’t bring glory to God; don’t do it. Abort abort

• Stronghold- get rid of wrong thinking patterns

• 60,000 thoughts per day, 90% are repeat thoughts from the day before, too many of those thoughts are negatively charged or go against God’s Word

• Speak God’s word to your soul (mind, will, emotions) 

• Meditating the word, confessing the word will change wrong belief systems in your subconscious (pull down these strongholds)

Philippians 4:8-9 (TPT) - Passion Translation

8 Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God,  praising him always. 9Put into practice the example of all that you have heard from me or seen in my life and the God of peace will be with you in all things.

• Change your thinking change your life

• Turn up the volume on the Love of God that has been shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Ghost

• God is love, god’s love never fails (1 Cor 13:8)

Luke 6:45 (TPT) - Passion Translation

People are known in this same way. Out of the virtue stored in their hearts, good and upright people will produce good fruit. Likewise, out of the evil hidden in their hearts, evil ones will produce what is evil. For the overflow of what has been stored in your heart will be seen by your fruit and will be heard in your words.

• Think before your talk

• When you talk you are giving permission for those words to come to pass in your life

22 Then, as you unwrap my words, they will impart true life and radiant health into the very core of your being.

23 So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are.

Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring  of life.

24 Avoid dishonest speech and pretentious words. Be free from using perverse words no matter what!

Romans 12:1-2 - Passion Translation

1Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? To surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship.

2Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you,  but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.

• Holy Spirit will lead your spirit (you receive direction, purpose, vision for your life)

• No fear, doubt, negative emotion, doesn’t go against God’s word

• God’s word inwardly transforms you 

• What you put in front of your eyes, ears, comes out of your mouth will control your thinking

• Your thinking, actions, habits, destiny (God’s plan for your life) 

• Gods Love sets you free

• Free to be the you God made (masterpiece)

• Free to dream again, and complete your destiny (God’s plan for you on the rearth)
