Recognizing Strongholds

Introduction:

Proverbs 23:7 - Amplified Bible

7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he [in behavior—one who manipulates].
He says to you, “Eat and drink,” Yet his heart is not with you [but it is begrudging the cost].

• Its so easy and so much clearer to point out a verse for somebody else (careful in the amount you judge others- reap what you sow)

• That’s why its so important to walk in love, mercy, forgiveness

• Today I want you to focus on you -  Do some self-accountability

• Humble yourself – submit yourself under the word of God

• Wrong thinking will lead to wrong believing (don’t fall for living your life believing a lie)

• People believed lies- no hell, no devil, its okay to have sex outside of marriage, born homosexual, born a guy but really I am girl trapped in a man’s body.  

• Please be open to what God’s word says is truth don’t compromise 

• Be honest with yourself, are you completely satisfied with the way your life is going or turned out thus far?

• The way people think, determines their emotions, determines actions, habits, character, determines their destiny in life 

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 - Amplified Bible

3 For though we walk in the flesh [as mortal men], we are not carrying on our [spiritual] warfare according to the flesh and using the weapons of man. 4 The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ,

• Strongholds are built by negative thoughts that go against what God says

• Little castles are being built for the devil to hide out in your head

Proverbs 4:20-24 - Amplified Bible

20 My son, pay attention to my words and be willing to learn;
Open your ears to my sayings.
21 Do not let them escape from your sight;
Keep them in the center of your heart.
22 For they are life to those who find them,
And healing and health to all their flesh.
23 Watch over your heart with all diligence,
For from it flow the springs of life.
24 Put away from you a deceitful (lying, misleading) mouth,
And put devious lips far from you.

Philippians 4:6-8 - Amplified Bible

6 Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. 7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].

8 Finally, [a]believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].

Isaiah 26:3 - Amplified Bible

3 “You will keep in [a]perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both [b]inclination and character], Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].

John 14:27 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

27 Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]

• Solution for fear based thoughts; receive Jesus peace- believe His words are true- more reality to you than the circumstance or bad report

John 6:63 - Amplified Bible

63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh conveys no benefit [it is of no account]. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life [providing eternal life].

• words- are containers/packages of God’s Spirit

• words- are containers of God’s life forces (eternal zoe life, salvation, wholeness)

Conclusion: Recognize, replace wrong thought patterns with God’s word, and Speak God’s word over the problem

Learn to think like God thinks, Talk like God talks, Act like God acts- Be imitators of God as dear children
