VIRTUAL SERMON

SERMON NOTES:

Laying on of Hands

Hebrews 6:1-2 - New King James Version

1 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to [a]perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

Deuteronomy 34:9 - New King James Version

9 Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.

  • Moses imparted his wisdom to lead Israel

    • Impartation- whatever Moses had was transferred to Joshua

Acts 13:2-3 - New King James Version

2 As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.

  • Ordained or set apart, called to the ministry, appointed, chosen

  • Example: Stephen appointed as part of the seven men to wait tables

    • Deacon- good report – filled with the holy ghost.

    • Elders- we laid hands on them.

Acts 8:14-17 - New King James Version

14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, 15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

  • Received the Holy Ghost-there are other ways- but this is one scriptural method

Acts 19:6 - New King James Version

6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

  • Spoke in tongues and prophesied.

Mark 6:5 - New King James Version

5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.

  • Jesus could do NO MIGHTY WORK except heal a few Sick people

Matthew 8:15

Jesus laid on hands on Peter’s mother in law- fever left her

Mark 8:22-25

Jesus puts his hands on the blind man twice (blind eyes open)

I see men like trees.

Jesus hit it again with power of Holy Ghost

Mark 5:22-23

Jairus temple ruler seeks Jesus to come to his home to Lay Hands on daughter

Acts 28:8-9 - New King James Version

8 And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him. 9 So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed.

Acts 5:12 - New King James Version

12 And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch.

  • Signs and wonders

Mark 16:15-20 - New King James Version

15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who [a]believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they[b] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

Conclusion:

  • Any believer can lay hands as a point of contact to release their faith and expect that person to be healed

    • Sick neighbors, kids, spouse in the name of Jesus

  • Special anointing to lay hands- supernatural transmission

    • Transmit God’s healing power (because He loves you) to undo what satan has done

    • Anointing will flow from my hands to DRIVE OUT sickness, diseas, and demons

      • IF THEY BELIEVE and ACCEPT IT (RECEIVE)

      • Remember unbelief in Nazareth
