VIRTUAL SERMON
SERMON NOTES:
Faith: You Have What You Say
Romans 10:17 - New King James Version
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Hebrews 11:1 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
11 Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, [a]the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].
1 John 5:4 - New Living Translation
4 For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.
Romans 10:8-10 - New Living Translation
8 In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: 9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
Believe in your Heart
Openly declare (your words)
Christians are pretty good at believing; where most of them are missing it is in the saying (their words)
Proverbs 18:21 - New Living Translation
21 The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
Make this adjustment
Matthew 12:34-37 - New Living Translation
34 You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. 35 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. 36 And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. 37 The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”
Jesus talking, words will put you over or under in life
Proverbs 6:2 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
2 You are snared with the words of your lips, you are caught by the speech of your mouth.
Mark 11:23-24 - New King James Version
23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Verily verily, assuredly- Eastern language
I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth, so help me God
Whoever, whosoever- same as the whosoever in John 3:16
Believe in your heart, have faith in your heart (substance of things hope for)
believe in your words. (what you are saying will come to pass)
Say three times mentioned believe once vs 23, re-emphasized in vs24
Ephesians 5:1 - New King James Version
5 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
You are a child of God (imitate your Father
Genesis everything except man created on the earth was by God’s faith in His words (let there be light, and there was)
You have what you say
Romans 4:17-21 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
17 As it is written, I have made you the father of many nations. [He was appointed our father] in the sight of God in Whom he believed, Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed.
18 [For Abraham, human reason for] hope being gone, hoped in faith that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been promised, So [numberless] shall your descendants be.
19 He did not weaken in faith when he considered the [utter] impotence of his own body, which was as good as dead because he was about a hundred years old, or [when he considered] the barrenness of Sarah’s [deadened] womb.
20 No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God,
21 Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised.
