SERMON NOTES:
Make God’s Words Your Words
All of God’s Word is True- settle it down in your Heart
Isaiah 55:11 - New Living Translation
11 It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
Romans 3:4 - The Passion Translation
Absolutely not! God will always be proven faithful and true to his word, while people are proven to be liars. This will fulfill what was written in the Scriptures: Your (God’s) words will always be vindicated and you will rise victorious when you are being tried by your critics!
Psalm 89:34 - New Living Translation
34 No, I will not break my covenant; I will not take back a single word I said.
Jeremiah 1:12 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
12 Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.
Hebrews 4:12 - New Living Translation
12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
The word is alive, not just black letters on a white page
Surrender to God’s words; let God’s word have its way with you
Not a buffet for us to pick & choose what we like and don’t like
We have been focused on using scriptures to change our environment
Instead of letting God’s scriptures change us, which will change the environment around us
Some people don’t know enough scriptures
Some people know scriptures with their heads and not their hearts (innermost parts/ core/ thoughts & desires) (meditate the word, get understanding- 100 fold harvest)
Psalm 19:11-14 - The Passion Translation
11 For they (God’s Word) warn us, your servants, and keep us from following the wicked way, giving a lifetime guarantee: great success to every obedient soul!
12 How would I discern the waywardness of my heart? Lord, forgive my hidden flaws whenever you find them.
13 Keep cleansing me, God, and keep me from my secret, selfish sins; may they never rule over me! For only then will I be free from fault and remain innocent of rebellion.
14 So may the words of my mouth, my meditation-thoughts, and every movement of my heart be always pure and pleasing, acceptable before your eyes, Yahweh, my only Redeemer, my Protector.
God’s word shows us our hidden flaws of our heart
Keeps us on the right path (avoid land mines)
Keeps us from problem situations before they happen (warns us)
Matthew - 12:34 The Passion Translation
But you who are known as the Pharisees are rotten to the core like venomous snakes. How can your words be good if you are rotten within? For what has been stored up in your hearts will be heard in the overflow of your words!
Matthew 12:37 - The Passion Translation
Your very words will be used as evidence, and your words will declare you either innocent or guilty.”
Proverbs 18:21 - The Passion Translation
Your words are so powerful that they will kill or give life, and the talkative person will reap the consequences.
Romans 5:17 - King James Version
17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.
Job 22:21 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
21 Acquaint now yourself with Him [agree with God and show yourself to be conformed to His will] and be at peace; by that [you shall prosper and great] good shall come to you.
Job 22:28 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
28 You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light [of God’s favor] shall shine upon your ways.
Daniel 10:12 - King James Version
12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
