VIRTUAL SERMON
SERMON NOTES:
Faith to Hear the Holy Spirit
Ears to hear listening by faith- ears of the heart; you can trust & rely on His voice to lead and guide you
Matthew 13:14-16 - New Living Translation
14 This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah that says, ‘When you hear what I say, you will not understand. When you see what I do, you will not comprehend. 15 For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes—so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’ 16 “But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.
Confession: Confess eyes to see ears to hear to be blessed to be healed (spirit, soul, body)
Hebrews 11:6 - New Living Translation
6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
Romans 10:8-10 - New Living Translation
8 In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: 9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
2a) Confession: I believe Jesus is Lord of my life. I believe it in my heart and I openly declare it with my mouth.
Romans 5:1-2 - New Living Translation
1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. 2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
2b) Confession: made right with God, I am at peace with God because of what Jesus has done. I receive undeserved privilege by faith. I will live this life confidently and joyfully looking forward to all God’s promises showing up in my life.
Distinguishing God’s voice (Holy Spirit)
John 10:1-5 - New Living Translation
1 “I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber! 2 But the one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. 5 They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.”
Recognize God’s voice- Holy Spirit will never tell you something that contradicts His Word
Example: Lord told me to marry that unbeliever- word says don’t be unequally yoked
Example: When I hear something that is good and lines up with His word, but I don’t want to do it.
Yield to Holy Spirit’s voice that leads (respond in action/faith acts)
John 10:24-27 - King James Version
24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
We became born again, because we heard God’s voice and we responded
Unbelievers don’t respond hearts are hardened, no faith
He chose us first before we chose Him.
Some say I found God (He was never to lost, we were)
Follow me – Yield to Holy Spirit direction- Respond
