SERMON NOTES:

Faith in The Blood of Jesus

Intro: Being saved by faith in Jesus Christ vs feelings (there’s a difference)

• Feelings don’t cause you to be save/ Faith causes you to be saved

• God says it, it is so (take God at His Word)

• Feelings focus (occupy thoughts) on self vs Faith focusses (occupy thoughts) on Christ

• Obsessed with your feeling’s (self) vs obsessed with God’s word 

• Engrossed in your feelings—I don’t feel healed, feel forgiven, feel peace, feel dirty (vs washed by the blood)

• Feelings will take you inward & downward (pressure on you)

• Paul Rom Ch 6 & 7 (what a loathsome wretch I am, I, I, I) self

• All pain caused by Self

• Faith will take you outward & upward

• God’s ways always takes your eyes off self, occupies you with Jesus

• Put your faith in God’s Word/ I am saved because of what God said

• God is not dealing with you on your thoughts & feelings

• He deals with you on what the Blood of Jesus is speaking (saying)

Revelation 1:5 - New King James Version

5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.  To Him who [a]loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

• What does God’s word say (faith in word vs feelings (self))

• Jesus loves Me, gave His life for Me

• My sins are washed away by the blood of Jesus (I am clean, faith in God’s word vs feelings)

Revelation 12:10-11 - New King James Version

10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

• We overcome all the devil’s accusations by the blood of Jesus and the words of our mouth

• Overcoming victory manifests when we have Faith in what the shed blood of Jesus did for us

Genesis 4:9-11 - Amplified Bible

9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” And he [lied and] said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 The Lord said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s [innocent] blood is crying out to Me from the ground [for justice]. 11 And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s [shed] blood from your hand.

• The blood of Abel’s shed blood cried out for vengeance (His blood has a voice)

• God dealt with Cain by the voice of the blood, not Cain’s feelings

• The moment blood was shed the curse came onto Cain

• The moment Jesus blood was shed the Blessing came to us

1 Peter 1:18-19 - Amplified Bible

18 For you know that you were not redeemed from your useless [spiritually unproductive] way of life inherited [by tradition] from your forefathers with perishable things like silver and gold, 19 but [you were actually purchased] with precious blood, like that of a [sacrificial] lamb unblemished and spotless, the priceless blood of Christ.

• Moses had Israelites apply Passover lamb (perfect no blemish sacrifice) blood to the doorposts of their homes (angel of death would Passover their home, no curse (no plague))

• We apply the Blood of Jesus with our tongue/voice

• Let the redeemed of the Lord “say so”

• My tongue is the pen of a ready writer

• Circumstances make things precious (health/sick, food/hunger, water for thirst, poverty/ riches)

• Sin makes the blood of Jesus precious

• Blood of Jesus is PRECIOUS because of its redeeming power

Hebrews 9:22 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

22 [In fact] under the Law almost everything is purified by means of blood, and without the shedding of blood there is neither release from sin and its guilt nor the remission of the due and merited punishment for sins.

• The Moment Jesus blood was shed the blood cried out to God (Jesus Blood has a voice)

• The voice cried out Blessings- Forgiveness, peace, righteousness, protection, redemption, Grace, favor

1 John 1:7-9 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

7 But if we [really] are living and walking in the Light, as He [Himself] is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses (removes) us from all sin and guilt [keeps us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].

8 If we say we have no sin [refusing to admit that we are sinners], we delude and lead ourselves astray, and the Truth [which the Gospel presents] is not in us [does not dwell in our hearts].

9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].

• Jesus’ death tore the veil- removed your sins for fellowship with God

• Passover lambs blood covered your sins (residue still there)

• Jesus Blood KEEPS us cleansed (continuous cleaning)

Hebrews 9:14 - The Passion Translation

14 Yet how much more will the sacred blood of the Messiah thoroughly cleanse our consciences! For by the power of the eternal Spirit he has offered himself to God as the perfect Sacrifice that now frees us from our dead works to worship and serve the living God.

• Man is irrecoverable on his own; we needed a Savior

• Our efforts against sin have been self-improvement

• I am going to try better (self-effort), will power (all have failed)

• God’s way is to cleanse our consciouses (Faith in God to cleanse us)

• Jesus washes us clean, so you are clean (faith in the blood)

• Don’t dishonor Jesus Blood

• Example let your 4-year-old clean a dirty plate- not as good as mommy does it

• We try to clean our lives up- Not as good as Jesus does it
