SERMON NOTES:

Remember Me

Isaiah 53:3-6 - New Living Translation

He was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.  We turned our backs on him and looked the other way.
He was despised, and we did not care.  Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows[a] that weighed him down.  And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!
But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.  He was whipped so we could be healedAll of us, like sheep, have strayed away.  We have left God’s paths to follow our own.  Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.

1 Peter 2:24 - New Living Translation

24 He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross
so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right.
By his wounds you are healed.

2 Corinthians 5:21 - New Living Translation

21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin,[a] so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

Romans 5:1-2 - Amplified Bible

Therefore, since we have been justified [that is, acquitted of sin, declared blameless before God] by faith, [let us grasp the fact that] we have peace with God [and the joy of reconciliation with Him] through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed). Through Him we also have access by faith into this [remarkable state of] grace in which we [firmly and safely and securely] stand. Let us rejoice in our [a]hope and the confident assurance of [experiencing and enjoying] the glory of [our great] God [the manifestation of His excellence and power].

  • We experience Manifestation of God’s glory by grace

  • We experience God’s grace by knowing we are made righteous

  • We were made righteous by faith in Jesus’ redemption sacrifice

    • You plus Jesus is enough for eternal life, healing, deliverance, getting out of debt, restoration of marriages, prodigal son’s to come home

Ephesians 2:8-9 - New Living Translation

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from GodSalvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Philippians 3:9 - New Living Translation

and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ.[a] For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.

  • Obeying the law -Self-effort, self-performance, behavior (Be good to get good)

  • Faith in Jesus performance not our own/ One with Him

  • Rest in what Jesus has done is more than enough

Hebrews 10:16-18 - New Living Translation

16 “This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day,[a] says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”[b]17 Then he says, “I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds.”[c]18 And when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.

Luke 23:32-34 - New Living Translation

32 Two others, both criminals, were led out to be executed with him. 33 When they came to a place called The Skull,[a] they nailed him to the cross. And the criminals were also crucified—one on his right and one on his left.  34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”[b] And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.[c]

Luke 23:39-43 - New Living Translation

39 One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while you’re at it!”  40 But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? 41 We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”  43 And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

  • Only Bible deathbed confession- confessed his sin & repented

  • Today you will be with me in paradise/ Heaven

Luke 24:45-47 - New Living Translation

45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. 46 And he said, “Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day. 47 It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations,[a] beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’
