John 2:1-5 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Jesus Comes to a Wedding
2 Now on the third day[a] there was a wedding feast in the Galilean village of Cana,[b] and the mother of Jesus was there. 2–3 Jesus and his disciples were all invited to the banquet,[c] but with so many guests in attendance, they ran out of wine.[d] And when Mary realized it, she came to him and asked, “They have no wine, can’t you do something about it?”[e]
4 Jesus replied, “My dear one, don’t you understand that if I do this, it won’t change anything for you, but it will change everything for me![f] My hour of unveiling my power has not yet come.”
5 Mary then went to the servers and told them, “Whatever Jesus tells you, make sure that you do it!”
Luke 4:16-21 The Passion Translation (TPT)
16–17 When he came to Nazareth,[a] where he had been raised, he went into the synagogue, as he always did on the Sabbath day. When Jesus came to the front to read the Scriptures,[b] they handed him the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and read where it is written, 18–19 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, and he has anointed me to be hope[c] for the poor, freedom for the brokenhearted, and new eyes[d] for the blind, and to preach to prisoners,[e] ‘You are set free!’ I have come to share the message of Jubilee,[f] for the time of God’s great acceptance[g] has begun.”[h]
20 After he read this he rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the minister, and sat down. Everyone stared at Jesus, wondering what he was about to say. 21 Then he added, “These Scriptures came true today in front of you.”
John 8:32-36 The Passion Translation (TPT)
32 For if you embrace the truth, it will release more freedom into your lives.”[a]
33 Surprised by this, they said, “But we’re the descendants of Abraham and we’re already free. We’ve never been in bondage[b] to anyone. How could you say that we will be released into more freedom?”[c]
34 “I speak eternal truth,” Jesus said. “When you sin you are not free. You’ve become a slave in bondage to your sin. 35 And slaves have no permanent standing in a family, like a son does, for a son is a part of the family forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free from sin, then become a true son and be unquestionably free!
Isaiah 43:25 The Passion Translation (TPT)
25 I, yes I, am the One and Only,[a] who completely erases your sins, never to be seen again. I will not remember them again. Freely I do this because of who I am![b]
Romans 5:17 The Passion Translation (TPT)
17 Death once held us in its grip, and by the blunder of one man, death reigned as king over humanity. But now, how much more[a] are we held in the grip of grace and continue reigning as kings in life, enjoying our regal freedom through the gift of perfect righteousness[b] in the one and only Jesus, the Messiah!
Galatians 5:1 The Passion Translation (TPT)
A Life of Freedom
5 Let me be clear, the Anointed One has set us free—not partially, but completely and wonderfully free! We must always cherish this truth and stubbornly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past.
