SUNDAY SERMON:

SERMON NOTES:

Faithfulness, Can God Trust You?

Matthew 6:25 - The Passion Translation

25 “This is why I tell you to never be worried about your life, for all that you need will be provided, such as food, water, clothing—everything your body needs. Isn’t there more to your life than a meal? Isn’t your body more than clothing?

Matthew 6:33 - The Passion Translation

33 “So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom[a] and the righteousness that proceeds from him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.

  •  chase after what God says is important (not what this world says is important)

  • Would God say your priorities are messed up?

  • God will give you all the less important things (abundantly)

2 Corinthians 11:1-4 - New Living Translation

11 I hope you will put up with a little more of my foolishness. Please bear with me. 2 For I am jealous for you with the jealousy of God himself. I promised you as a pure bride[a] to one husband—Christ. 3 But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent. 4 You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed.

  • God is jealous for your heart

    • What are you putting as priority over God?

  • Paul compares your devotion to God as a pure virgin marriage relationship

    • Bible calls us the bride of Christ

    • What color would be your wedding dress? (white)

      • Jesus blood cleanses us white as snow

Ephesians 5:26 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

26 So that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word,

  • Compares undivided devotion from God to Eve being deceived by the serpent

    • Stop believing everything you hear

    • Start recognizing the spirit behind what you hear?

      • Faith vs fear, Love vs hate

Luke 19:12-27 - The Passion Translation

  • 12 So he told them this story to change their perspective: “Once there was a wealthy prince who left his province to travel to a distant land, where he would be crowned king and then return.

  • 13 Before he departed he summoned his ten servants together and said, ‘I am entrusting each of you with fifty thousand dollars[a] to trade with while I am away. Invest it and put the money to work until I return.’

  • 14 “Some of his countrymen despised the prince and sent a delegation after him to declare before the royals, ‘We refuse to let this man rule over us! He will not be our king!’

  • 15 “Nevertheless, he was crowned king and returned to his land. Then he summoned his ten servants to see how much each one had earned and what their profits came to.

  • 16 “The first one came forward and said, ‘Master, I took what you gave me and invested it, and it multiplied ten times.’

  • 17 “‘Splendid! You have done well, my excellent servant. Because you have shown that you can be trusted in this small matter, I now grant you authority to rule over ten fortress cities.’

  • 18 “The second came and said, ‘Master, what you left with me has multiplied five times.’

  • 19 “His master said, ‘I also grant you authority in my kingdom over five fortress cities.’

  • 20 “Another came before the king and said, ‘Master, here is the money you entrusted to me. I hid it for safekeeping.

  • 21 You see, I live in fear of you, for everyone knows you are a strict master and impossible to please. You push us for a high return on all that you own, and you always want to gain from someone else’s efforts.’[b]

  • 22 “The king said, ‘You wicked servant! I will judge you using your own words. If what you said about me is true, that I am a harsh man, pushing you for a high return and wanting gain from others’ efforts,

  •  23 why didn’t you at least put my money in the bank[c] to earn some interest on what I entrusted to you?’

  • 24 “The king said to his other servants, ‘Take the money he has and give it to the faithful servant who multiplied my money ten times over.’

  • 25 “‘But master,’ the other servants objected, ‘why give it to him? He already has so much!’

  • 26 “‘Yes,’ replied the king. ‘But to all who have been faithful, even more will be given them. And for the ones who have nothing, even the little they seem to have will be taken from them

  • 27 Now, bring all those rebellious enemies of mine who rejected me as their king—bring them here before me and execute them!’”

Can you be faithful where God put you? (God looks at faithfulness)

  • Well done good and faithful servant

If you are faithful in little, even more will be given to you

When you live in fear, you get stuck in life

  • Choose Faith over fear, move forward don’t get stuck by fear

    • Trust in and rely on God and His Word

    • Keep pressing forward on God’s assignment for you

      • less important things will be given to you abundantly.

      • This God’s faithfulness system

  • You will have a job, authority over cities, in heaven

  • The Lord is coming back, what will he find you doing?

Proverbs 14:35 - The Passion Translation

35 A wise and faithful servant receives promotion from the king,

but the one who acts disgracefully

gets to taste the anger of the king.

  • Promotion comes from God, not your boss

  • God will speak to men’s hearts (bosses, hiring managers)

Hebrews 11:1-2 - The Passion Translation

11 Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen. 2 This testimony of faith is what previous generations[a] were commended for.

  • When God looks at your life, he is looking for faithfulness

  • Abraham, Noah, Daniel, all the old testament prophets, Joshua & Caleb (12 spies)

Hebrews 11:6 - The Passion Translation

6 And without faith living within us it would be impossible to please God. For we come to God in faith knowing that he is real and that he rewards the faith of those who give all their passion and strength into seeking him.

  • Impossible to please God without faith

  • Know He is Real

  • He rewards our faith

  • Are you giving all your passion into seeking Him
