SUNDAY SERMON:
SERMON NOTES
Joy is What You Know
Hosea 4:6 - Amplified Bible
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge [of My law, where I reveal My will].Because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge,I will also reject you from being My priest.Since you have forgotten the law of your God,I will also forget your children.
Sometimes are prayers aren’t answered because we didn’t know enough on the subject
Joy is what you know
Rejected God’s words
Have we forgotten God?
Think about how you spend your time and money?
Time- studying the word (gain knowledge)
Building relationship with God
Fellowship
Money- are you investing back into God’s kingdom?
Can God trust you with his money? If he tells you go pay that persons rent, car note, credit card, buy their meal.
Quickest way to get your needs met is get involved with getting someone else’s needs met
John 10:10- Amplified Bible
10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].
Enemy will only tell your words to discourage you, get you to doubt God’s word won’t come to pass in your life
Devil will speak only bad news (never hear I am going to bless you from the enemy)
Devil’s words are designed to destroy what Jesus says
John 15:11 - King James Version
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
Jesus words will bring you joy
If you are lacking joy, it’s because you have gotten away from the words of Jesus (good news)
If you are not listening to Jesus, you are listening to the words of somebody else (world, the enemy, your flesh)
My joy remains- implies joy can come and go (remain)
Nehemiah 8:10 - King James Version
10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
No joy no strength, no strength then you are weak, if you’re weak you can’t resist, if you can’t resist devil won’t flee, if devil doesn’t flee you won’t win
Hebrews 10:32-36 - New King James Version
32 But recall the former days in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings: 33 partly while you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations, and partly while you became companions of those who were so treated; 34 for you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven. 35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.
After you were illuminated (light of the word)
Struggle and sufferings will attack for the word’s sake (steal the word from your heart)
Be determined to keep your joy (by knowing what you possess in heaven the devil can never kill, steal, or destroy)
Knowing or focusing on Jesus words will produce faith (confidence), which will lead to patience, so you endure
Maintain your Joy, faith, patience until you receive the promise (whatever you are believing for)
Mark 4:14-15 - King James Version
14 The sower soweth the word.
15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
Warning, thief comes immediately to steal the word why?
The word brings joy, if he can get the word then he can get your joy
If enemy gets your joy you have no strength
The joy comes from the word (good news)
I mean right after church, some type of struggle is coming to steal the word seed that was sown in your heart
Monday morning quarterback (spend time reviewing the Sunday’s notes & sermon)
James 1:2-4 - King James Version
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; (testing and trials)
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Tells us how to come out of a trial (test) wanting nothing?
Joy is what you know, keep your joy, knowing this
Keep your joy (great fight), faith will follow, then patience will show up
Patience will let you regroup, so you can get your sword out (God’s word)
Patience will give you endurance to stand on God’s word until whatever you are going through blows over
Not the big things that comes to get your joy (little things irritate and aggravate you)
Traffic, flat tire, police ticket
If enemy cant take your joy, he cant take your peace
Every time trouble, affliction, testing, trials are mentioned- JOY is brought in
What do most Christians do? They give up
They don’t fight the good fight of faith
They take their armor off and quit; this faith stuff doesn’t work
Psalm 27:5-6 - The Passion Translation
5–6 In his shelter in the day of trouble, that’s where you’ll find me, for he hides me there in his holiness. He has smuggled me into his secret place, where I’m kept safe and secure—out of reach from all my enemies. Triumphant now, I’ll bring him my offerings of praise,
singing and shouting with ecstatic joy! Yes, listen and you can hear the fanfare of my shouts of praise to the Lord!
In the day of trouble, You can be Joyful in trouble
Offering of praise/ sacrifice of praise
I will sing praises to the Lord; Keep it up until joy comes
Psalm 27:13-14 - The Passion Translation
13 Yet I totally trust you to rescue me one more time, so that I can see once again how good you are while I’m still alive! 14 Here’s what I’ve learned through it all:Don’t give up; don’t be impatient; be entwined as one with the Lord. Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Yes, keep on waiting—for he will never disappoint you!
