VIRTUAL SERMON:
SERMON NOTES:
I Am the Righteousness of God in Christ
Intro: Do you want the devil’s attacks to have no effect on you?
Do you want to know how to stop sinning?
Do you want to know the way out when symptoms of the curse start to show up in your life?
Oppression, depression, discouragement, problems in the marriage or with the kids, limited resources, or sickness
You have an immediate way out!!!!
Ephesians 6:14 - New King James Version
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
Part of spiritual warfare/ put on the amor of God
Breastplate needed to protect your Heart (spiritual heart)
You can get cut in the arm, leg, etc. and live
You get stabbed in the heart, chances are your dead
To protect your Heart you need to know what the Righteousness of God is and what it is not?
1 John 3:21 - New King James Version
21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.
Enemy will attack your Heart so you have no faith (Heb 11:6)
How? Get you in condemnation and shame and guilt
Attack your Christianity, hypocrite, lousy Christian, you don’t fast, tithe, read your bible enough, you lie, say the wrong things, made a bad decision, God can’t trust you with money.
With the devil its always an attack on something YOU have done or have not done (flesh) your performance (even use other Christians to accuse you)
Romans 5:17 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
17 For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
If you believe that righteousness depends on what you do; the devil will get you every time
Just point to what you did wrong
Even when you right- devil says it’s Not enough
Righteousness is a GIFT based on what the One-man Jesus did
Question: when you fail/ sin, Are you still Righteous? (YES)
Jesus says I still see you as righteous
Question: When you know you’ve failed and you’re still right with God; does it make you want to sin MORE?
No, not at all. In fact, you will LOVE God more
Because you know you didn’t deserve the mercy & grace He gave you
1 Corinthians 15:34 - New King James Version
34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.
When you recognize (Wake up) that you are in Christ (Righteousness) you will not want to sin
Righteous conscious versus sin consciousness
Spend more of your time meditating (convincing, believing) on that “I am the Righteousness of God in Christ” (Say this out loud)
I am as Jesus is in the earth, joint heir with Christ, take it by faith
Be more conscious of Your Righteousness than sin
John 16:8-11 - New King James Version
8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
The sin, because they do not believe in Jesus
Righteousness, because Jesus paid the price
Devil’s judgement- lake of fire forever- devil is a loser
Part of Holy Spirit’s role is to convict you of your righteousness
Example: john the disciple looks at a pretty Jewish girl walking down the street. Jesus catches him, and looks at John still as righteous
This is what the Holy Spirit’s role now—convicts us that we are Righteous (VS 10)
This acceptance and belief of our Righteousness in Christ, will build a desire in us to not want to sin (transformation on the inside)
Hebrews 10:15-18 - Amplified Bible
15 And the Holy Spirit also adds His testimony to us [in confirmation of this]; for after having said,
16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them
After those days, says the Lord: I will imprint My laws upon their heart, And on their mind I will inscribe them [producing an inward change],”
He then says, 17 “And their sins and their lawless acts I will remember no more [no longer holding their sins against them].”
18 Now where there is [absolute] forgiveness and complete cancellation of the penalty of these things, there is no longer any offering [to be made to atone] for sin.
All of our Sins forgiven ( say it: I am the Righteousness of God in Christ)
We have no business being down, depressed, sad, or oppressed (insult to Jesus)
Offering Message:
Psalm 1:2-3 New Living Translation
2 But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.
3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
