VIRTUAL SERMON:
SERMON NOTES:
Road to Wealth
Luke 5:1-11 - King James Version
5 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, 2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.
4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:
10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.
11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.
Be willing and Obedient to let the Lord use what you have
Are you willing let the Lord have it , if He calls on you to give it? (Isaiah 1:19)
Peter gave Jesus full access to his boat.
He gave Jesus what He wanted when he wanted no argument (swift in your obedience, important)
Motivation: about loving Him and putting Him First (matt 6:33)
Listen for your moment of instruction (john 16:13) (Opportunity)
John 10:26-28 King James Version
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Practice His presence in such a way that you hear his voice
He speaks to you or nudges you through the inner witness the Holy Spirit
We must walk with Him daily in fellowship and in His word
So you recognize your moment of opportunity or instruction
Willing and obedient to carry it out promptly
Holy Spirit will never lead you to do anything that doesn’t line up with His Word
Holy Spirit is a safe guide
Motivation: Be wise in our giving (fertile soil, give to a genuine man or woman of God)
We must be listening so that we can receive our instructions
John 6:63 - King James Version
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Called a Rhema Word-His words are Spirit & Life (brings life when we embrace it)
A word from God will be profiting when:
We receive it by faith
Expecting Him to bring it to pass
You can go to church & be faithful, but if you don’t know how to listen, you can miss some valuable moment of instruction
Success is inevitable when we hear the Holy Spirit’s instruction and we obey to that moment
Let Go of your Old Thinking and believe God
Peter was the experienced commercial fisherman, yet he was obedient to the Word of Jesus instruction
If you don’t ACT on your moment of instruction, that word will profit you nothing or bring no benefit to your life
God is trying to get blessing to you, and one word from God means its already wrapped up (done deal)
Peter’s case “let down your nets” (Peter had to cooperate by obeying)
Peter had let go of His old thinking (training, natural knowledge, logic)
vs. 5 Nevertheless at thy word, simply believe and obey the word of instructions
your only job is to receive the instruction, how?
Reading, studying, and meditating the word of God
Praying in the Spirit (tongues) makes your heart tuned into Him
