First Fruit Giving/Principles Part 3

Deuteronomy 8:18 - 21st Century King James Version

18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God; for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Matthew 6:31-33 - New International Version

31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

  • We live in an economic society, and our Heavenly Father knows this

Matthew 6:26 - New International Version

26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

  • What should we be doing?

    • Sowing -reaping/ planting- harvesting

    • Savings, Barns should be filled

      • Why? Don’t have to make our decisions based off emotional money

Proverbs 3:7-10 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

7 Be not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn [entirely] away from evil.

8 It shall be health to your nerves and sinews, and marrow and moistening to your bones.

9 Honor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labors] and with the firstfruits of all your income;

10 So shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your vats shall be overflowing with new wine.

  • Giving first fruits is a way to worship & Honor the Lord

    • Brings health

  • Motivation is generosity- seed of praise celebrating God’s blessings

  • Gratitude to God for the extra blessing he has given you

    • Can be given to God and His Temple (church)

    • Can give it to the minister (your decision) 

  • Shows God that you are not in love with money so he can trust you with it

    • Want to let God know you are not controlled by money

  • Expression for your love for His Word, its only done once

Joshua 6:19 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

19 But all the silver and gold and vessels of bronze and iron are consecrated to the Lord; they shall come into the treasury of the Lord.

  • The city of Jericho was the first city conquered in the promised land

Joshua 6:24 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

24 And they [a] burned the city with fire and all that was in it; only the silver, the gold, and the vessels of bronze and of iron they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord.

Joshua 7:20-21 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

20 And Achan answered Joshua, In truth, I have sinned against the Lord, the God of Israel, and this have I done:

21 When I saw among the spoils an attractive mantle from Shinar and two hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. Behold, they are hidden in the earth inside my tent, with the silver underneath.

Acts 3:25-26 - 21st Century King James Version

25 Ye are the children of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, ‘And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.’

26 Unto you first, God, having raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you in turning every one of you away from his iniquities.”

  • God gave His First son in faith while we were still sinners

  • That one day we might give our lives to God in the form of repentance and salvation

Revelation 1:5-6 - 21st Century King James Version

and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first-begotten of the dead, and the prince over the kings of the earth. Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

and hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father, to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

  • Jesus was faithful unto death, first to be raised from the dead

  • Before we see the blessing we give, takes faith

    • Our giving says Lord I put you first in my life and I expect you to take care of the rest

Romans 11:16 - King James Version

16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

  • Jesus is the root; we are the branches

  • Bearing fruit is caused by staying attached to the root/vine

    • Stay attached to the word, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost, and you will bear much fruit.
