VIRTUAL SERMON

SERMON NOTES:

Faith: Think Like God, Talk Like God, Act Like God

Proverbs 23:7 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. As one who reckons, he says to you, eat and drink, yet his heart is not with you [but is grudging the cost].

Romans 12:2 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

  • Think like God

Proverbs 18:20-21  - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

20 A man’s [moral] self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; and with the consequence of his words he must be satisfied [whether good or evil].

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].

Mark 11:23-24 - New King James Version

23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

  • Talk Like God

Hebrews 11:1-6 - New King James Version

11 Now faith is the [a]substance of things hoped for, the [b]evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.

By faith we understand that the [c]worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.

By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Romans 8:6 - New King James Version

6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

2 Corinthians 5:7 - New King James Version

7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

John 10:27 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

27 The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me.

  • Hear God through his word (logos word/written word)

  • Hear God through His voice (Rhema word/ Holy Spirit)

Ephesians 6:16 - New King James Version

16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

  • Cast down every lie and suggestion of the enemy that doesn’t line up with the word of God

James 2:20 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

20 Are you willing to be shown [proof], you foolish (unproductive, spiritually deficient) fellow, that faith apart from [good] works is inactive and ineffective and worthless?

James 2:20 - Good News Translation

20 You fool! Do you want to be shown that faith without actions is useless?[a

  • Think like God, Talk like God, Act like God

  • Faith without corresponding actions (your words must line up with your actions for faith to work)

  • Your actions are proof to yourself that you believe (prove you are His disciple)

Examples of Faith in Action:

  • 10 lepers- Go show yourself to the priest (healed as they went- action)

  • 4 friends/roof- pick up your mat and go (faith to respond to Jesus’s word)

  • Giving (Luke 6:36-37/ I Corinthians 9:8)

Luke 6:38 - New King James Version

38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Luke 17:11-19 - New King James Version

11 Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”

Luke 5:18-25 - New King James Version

18 Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him. 19 And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus.

20 When He saw their faith, He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”

21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, “Why are you reasoning in your hearts? 23 Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk’? 24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”

25 Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
