VIRTUAL SERMON
SERMON NOTES:
Knowledge of God Part 2
Intro: Why read your bible?
Knowledge of Him, learn of Him, get to know God through His word
He is faithful to His word/ can’t break His word
Romans 10:17 - New King James Version
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
John 8:31-32 - New King James Version
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Abide in the word/ live there
Just don’t vacation there or visit the word on Sundays
Mark 7:13 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
13 Thus you are nullifying and making void and of no effect [the authority of] the Word of God through your tradition, which you [in turn] hand on. And many things of this kind you are doing.
Traditions- man made ideas that don’t appear in the bible.
You have to be determined to know your bible for yourself (personal)
Powerless religion- void and no effect (it doesn’t work)
2 Peter 1:2 - New King James Version
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
Grace (free flow of favors) and peace (nothing missing nothing broken, full provision)
How does it come? Knowledge of God and Jesus?
Multiplied unto you (another past tense already done word)
I don’t think many of you have a faith problem.
You believe God you love God, you think God is all powerful and can do miracles
I truly believe by just talking to most of you and hearing what comes out of your mouths that you have a knowledge problem
Most Christians have no idea what God said on the subject (finances, healing, joy, deliverance, peace) they are believing Him
Ephesians 1:17 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
17 [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,
We receive wisdom and revelation through the knowledge of Him (God)
Access to the mysteries and secrets of life through our personal relationship with God
Deep and intimate relationship (personal)
Psalm 91:14-16 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
14 Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.
Do you know and understand the power behind God’s name?
Do you have personal knowledge (experience) of His mercy, love, kindness?
Do you trust that He will never forsake you, no never?
Do you know He will deliver me, no matter what you are going through?
2 Corinthians - 10:4-5 New King James Version
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not [a]carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
Our weapons are spiritual (can’t see them)
Cast down imaginations (suggestions in your head) that don’t line up with the word of God or character of God
Knowledge problem
Proverbs 1:7 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
7 The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline.
Matthew 6:33 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
33 But seek ([a]aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness ([b]His way of doing and being right), and then all these things [c]taken together will be given you besides.
James 2:19-20 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
19 You believe that God is one; you do well. So do the demons believe and shudder [in terror and horror such as [a]make a man’s hair stand on end and contract the surface of his skin]!
20 Are you willing to be shown [proof], you foolish (unproductive, spiritually deficient) fellow, that faith apart from [good] works is inactive and ineffective and worthless?
