VIRTUAL SERMON

SERMON NOTES:

Faith to Respond to the Holy Spirits Voice

Romans 12:1-2 - King James Version

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

  • Live for God; what would you have me do Lord? Living sacrifice

  • Renew your mind; reflection, Be still and know- pause

    • Give time to the Holy Spirit to correct you

  • Be a human Being (just be) not a human Doing

Isaiah 1:19 - New King James Version

19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land;

  • Obedient- respond in faith to God’s voice (yield)

John 10:25-27 - Living Bible

25 “I have already told you, and you don’t believe me,” Jesus replied. “The proof is in the miracles I do in the name of my Father. 26 But you don’t believe me because you are not part of my flock. 27 My sheep recognize my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

  • Recognize God’s voice when they hear it

  • Sheep hear God’s voice and obey

    • Follow is a faith action/respond to God’s voice.

Philippians 3:13-14 - New Living Translation

13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

  • Push forward to complete God’s plan for my life.

    • Only way you will truly be satisfied in this world (be in God’s will for your life)

2 Timothy 4:6-8 - New King James Version

6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

  • End of Paul’s life- I want to know the great man of God’s thoughts (learn)

  • Fought the fight of Faith (you win)

    • Finished God’s plan for your life.

  • Responding to God’s voice over your life (kept the Faith)

Romans 8:1-8 - New Living Translation

1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. 3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. 4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.

Confession:  I no longer follow my sinful nature I follow the Holy Spirit

5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.

  • Following the Holy Spirit is our new ten commandments

  • Responding (in faith/ action) leads to life and peace. (yield)

  • God is a spirit – worship Him with our spirit (flow)
