VIRTUAL SERMON

SERMON NOTES:

You Have Jesus’ Authority

Ephesians 1:16-22 - New Living Translation

16 I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, 17 asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom[a] and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. 18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.[b]

19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. 21 Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. 22 God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.

Matthew 28:18-19 - New King James Version

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go [a]therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Romans 5:17 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

17 For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

  • Kings SAY what they want

    • Kings reign by commanding (words of authority)

Matthew 4:4 - New King James Version

4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

  • God expresses his authority with His word

John 6:63 - New King James Version

63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

  • words- are containers/packages of God’s Spirit

  • words- are containers of God’s life forces (eternal zoe life, salvation, wholeness)

Psalm 119:89 - King James Version

89 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

  • We establish God’s word of Authority with His words on our lips

  • We establish His word on the earth

2 Timothy 1:7 - Amplified Bible

7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].

Luke 10:19 - New Living Translation

19 Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.

  • We have all authority over the devil, demons, and all enemies
