SERMON NOTES:

Staying in the Secret Place

Intro:  Read Journal Not guilty verdict

God loves me- I am righteous- He’s faithful (won’t lie, never break covenant)-

Hebrews 4:16 - New King James Version

16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Say it-believe it-act on it- praise Him for it (give thanks)- Rest in finished works of Jesus (Faith Process)

What do we do from the time we ask in faith until the prayer request in manifested in our lives (there it is)?

Daniel 10:2-4 - New Living Translation

When this vision came to me, I, Daniel, had been in mourning for three whole weeks. All that time I had eaten no rich food. No meat or wine crossed my lips, and I used no fragrant lotions until those three weeks had passed.  On April 23, as I was standing on the bank of the great Tigris River,

Daniel 10:12-13 - New Living Translation

12 Then he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. 13 But for twenty-one days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels,[b] came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia.

  • God sent the answer to Daniel’s request the first day he prayed (heard in heaven)

    • Angels released to bring to pass God’s will on the earth

  • There is a spiritual war going on that we don’t see; fight of resistance to stop the promises of God from coming to pass in God’s children’s lives

    • Eph 1:21 (principalities, powers, might, dominions)

    • Eph 6:12 (wrestle with principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, spiritual wickedness in high places)

Psalm 91:1-11 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

He who [a]dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].

2 I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!

For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

[Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.

You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day,

Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.

Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place,

10 There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.

11 For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].

  • Staying in the secret place

    • Believing, saying -confessing God’s promises over you, acting on God’s word (giving in famine)- keep praising

    • This is developing your faith (confidence in what He has already done)

Isaiah 30:15 - New Living Translation

15 This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:
“Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved.
In quietness and confidence is your strength.
But you would have none of it.

  • Resting in the Jesus finished works

  • Quiet confidence (even keeled) stay the same, consistence

Hebrews 4:1-3 - New King James Version

The Promise of Rest

Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, [a]not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:

“So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”

although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Hebrews 4:10-11 - New Living Translation

10 For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. 11 So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.

  • Resting is not inactivity.

Hebrews 10:35-38 - New Living Translation

35 So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

37 “For in just a little while,
the Coming One will come and not delay.
38 And my righteous ones will live by faith.[a]
But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.

  • Don’t throw away your faith (give up) Nothing is impossible with God

  • Faith has rewards (promises of God come to pass in your life)

  • Patient endurance, consistent, stay the same, don’t be moved off what you are believing (God’s promises)

  • Remaining the same regardless of contrary circumstances to the word

  • Live by Faith (don’t give up) God has no pleasure in giving up or quitting

James 1:2-4 - New King James Version

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces [a]patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be [b]perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

  • Refusing to quit on your faith is what puts you over into seeing results

  • Our faith has to be backed by patience

  • Getting up every day expecting to see the promises of God come to pass in your life

  • If you are willing to stand forever, you won’t have to stand very long
